Equating Linux enthusiasts to offal is a bold move on this site
I’m all about this being a new meme template for dad jokes
Made me go and check, but surprisingly lemmy doesn’t have an emojipasta community
I would have thought that one would have made the jump
I’ve been an engineer for about two decades now and pretty much everyone I’ve ever worked with has expressed that they would never work for Facebook, betting companies or defense companies.
Amazon is probably next on the shit list and then Google, but each to a much lesser extent than the ones before. Working for Google still holds a level of prestige for some people.
I guess if everyone on your street is doing the same then it’s not a problem, but it’s worth noting over half the general population will have a chronotype where noise that early will be a negative for their health.
Making noise between 10am-10pm is apparently the best for everyone
Depends on what time, for me
After about 10am is pretty fair game if a noisy job needs doing IMO. If it’s music and not obnoxiously loud, that’s probably fine too
Anyone making any noise before that though absolutely should get in the sea
I’m fine with a brioche bun, they’re upper tier buns
But don’t stack a load of stuff in there to the point the brioche disintegrates under the heft of it
That’s why we have the pretzel bun
(Likewise, don’t use a pretzel bun if you’re not gonna load it up, that bun needs grease for balance)
This what we’re calling gen alpha then?
Apple is gonna love that free advertising
Imagine something kinda like crocs without the toe, I guess
If you Google “slides” you’ll see loads of examples
Crocs are obsolete
Slides won guys, not sure who still needs to hear this
And whoever received your review probably fed it into a chat bot to summarise.
There’s an inefficiency here…
YT Ultra
Samsung & Amazon have had their own fairly successful stores for years. Compete if you feel so strongly
This is nothing like the situation on Apple devices
Well that’s not good news. This feels like a bit of a problem because a lot of people probably wouldn’t vote on stuff they otherwise would, out of fear of attracting the attention of some nutjob with too much time on their hands.
It kinda flies in the face of the “downvote (and maybe report) then move on” attitude that most of us will have taken on from Reddit.
I wonder if the devs have plans to correct this as I don’t see how this won’t limit engagement from good users aware of this and amplify toxic ones (due to people not downvoting out of fear of retaliation).
Interesting, I was of the understanding that the individual vote attribution doesn’t leave the community’s home instance and only aggregated counts are federated.
Given an instance spun up for this purpose would very likely not host any communities I’d be interacting with, it wouldn’t get much more information than you can already get through the UI/API
Am I wrong on this?
The first one is pretty much down to, as Gabe Newell puts it, “piracy is a service problem”. Spotify came along and (initially) provided a much better service compared to pirating your music at the time. Once they created the market segment, competitors started their own streaming subscriptions. I’d also say the Google music “upload 50,000 tracks for free” got a lot of former pirates to jump.
Now the services are going through the same enshittification that most popular online services seem to be going through, we can see piracy increasing again. Someone will notice and fill the gap in providing a good service again at some point and the pendulum will swing once more
