  • Maybe the mark is missed for me because no iPhone in existence is marketed as a standard everyday driver. They’re always various levels of “luxury” or “pro”. More comparable to a Lexus or a Lincoln.

    It’s also fixed one of the flaws of the original by increasing the time difference. 2005-2024 is a meaningful difference in the market, but 2021-2024 isn’t (unless Apple harped on 2024 specifically for some reason).

    A more accurate comparison and one that exposes the weaknesses of the original might be a 2024 BMW vs a 2023 Bugatti, a new upper class car vs a recent top class supercar. Fewer of that argument’s flaws are due to exaggeration and more are presented in the original, which would be a better exposition of truth to satirize with.










  • I’m probably dead wrong somehow, but I don’t see why these aren’t the standard text document software. Is there some part of just a solid wall of text that can’t be done with DPS? Is the limitations of word processors somehow good for office use to the exclusion of slightly interesting formatting?

    Children are surprisingly clever and have all the time in the world, but they aren’t professional pen-testers and don’t have the experience needed to use online services before having access to them.

    It’s far more likely they get a hand-me-down device from a friend and keep it at school, especially if they know such a thing would be confiscated immediately upon discovery. Preventing this interaction would require control over the child’s life nearing Amish levels, or prison levels.
